Welcome to the Thunderhead and Ski Time Square Redevelopment website -- the place for news and information about the ongoing transformation of seven acres in the heart of the base village of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Capturing the pioneering spirit of Steamboat Unbridled, the redevelopment of Thunderhead and Ski Time Square will create a vibrant place for the enjoyment of visitors and Steamboat residents. What's New Ski Time Square Development Plan Submitted to the City The 4.62 acre Ski Time Square redevelopment plan was recently submitted to the City in June, 2009, and is proposed as a mixed-use LEED project with five buildings and underground parking. Retail and restaurant uses will line Ski Time Square Drive along with public gathering spaces and enhanced pedestrian connectivity to create a lively, animated streetscape. Amenities include an indoor pool/spa, an outdoor swimming pool and several hot tubs in different locations around the site. In addition, a large park area celebrating Burgess Creek is planned. Thunderhead Final Development Plan Approved by City Council On May 5, 2009, The Atira Group's Development Plan/Final Development Plan proposal was approved 5 to 1 by the City Council of Steamboat Springs. Our LEED Silver-pursuant, ski-in/ski-out project is planned to a 5-star standard and includes 100 whole ownership units, a slopeside promenade, owner/guest amenities, and retail and restaurant opportunities. Community services and amenities include a public turnaround in Ski Time Square Drive, pedestrian connections and streetscape improvements, a Ski Patrol transfer facility, public restrooms, public seating areas, fire pit, pop-jet fountain, and play area.
